The film focuses on the fictional 1982 Tour de France, where a massive doping scandal leads to the disqualification of nearly every rider. Only five "clean" (or at least, less obviously caught) cyclists remain to battle for the yellow jersey. It serves as a spiritual successor to the 2015 tennis mockumentary 7 Days in Hell .
