He began with "New Hope." At first, it was just dirt roads and a single power plant. He spent hours obsessing over the curve of a highway off-ramp, ensuring the traffic flowed like blood through a healthy heart. He placed every tree by hand, built a university overlooking a sapphire lake, and banned heavy industry near the residential zones.

Minh sat back, his face pale in the monitor’s light. He realized he had been trying to build a city where nothing went wrong, forgetting that cities are living things. They are messy, loud, and unpredictable—just like people.

Days blurred into nights. Minh’s real-world kitchen filled with instant noodle cups, but in the game, his citizens were eating at organic markets he’d placed in the "Green District." He felt a strange, God-like pride when he saw the little digital people—the "Cims"—walking their dogs in the parks he designed. But then, the simulation began to bite back.
