The film opens with a flashback to a pivotal moment in Batman's history: the Joker's brutal murder of the second Robin, Jason Todd, in Sarajevo. Five years later, a mysterious new figure known as the Red Hood arrives in Gotham City, quickly seizing control of the local drug trade by force. subtitle Batman: Under the Red Hood

Unlike Batman, the Red Hood uses lethal methods and believes crime should be controlled through violent intimidation rather than eliminated through law. As Batman investigates, he realizes the Red Hood is actually a resurrected and vengeful Jason Todd. The story culminates in a tense three-way confrontation between Batman, Jason, and the Joker, forcing Bruce to confront his perceived failure as a father and a mentor.
