Sango, her father, and her younger brother Kohaku are lured into a trap at Hitomi Castle under the guise of an extermination mission. During the mission, a spider demon possesses Kohaku, forcing him to kill his father and comrades and severely injure Sango. Meanwhile, their home village is annihilated by a horde of demons. Naraku manipulates the situation, convincing a grieving Sango that Inuyasha is responsible for the massacre, prompting her to vow revenge.
