Back at the Pritchett house, Jay is left to look after Manny while Gloria is out. What starts as a quiet evening becomes an obsession when Jay gets sucked into the high-stakes drama of the Spanish telenovela Gloria and the maid were watching. Despite not speaking the language, Jay becomes deeply invested in the soap opera's twists and turns, even calling the maid later to get updates on the plot while everyone else is worried about more serious family matters.

Phil Dunphy is ecstatic to take Haley to visit his alma mater, but his "cool dad" energy quickly becomes an embarrassment. He drags her through the campus of his beloved university, complete with high-fiving students and enthusiastic chants of "Go Bullfrogs!". While Phil tries to relive his glory days, Haley is more interested in the social scene—which eventually leads her to a wild frat party. A panicked Phil has to track her down, resulting in a rare heartfelt moment where he realizes his eldest daughter is truly growing up and heading toward a new chapter.
