In Joppa, Perseus learns of a curse: no man may marry the beautiful Princess Andromeda unless they solve a riddle posed by Calibos. Those who fail are executed. With the help of the scholar Burgess and several divine gifts from Zeus—a sword that can cut through marble, a shield that reflects like a mirror, and a helmet of invisibility—Perseus begins his quest.
