Research published in Scientific Reports identified a novel 12-amino acid peptide, VLGREEWSTSYW, that selectively binds to the cancer-specific receptor mutation EGFRvIII, commonly found in glioblastoma. Using phage display and molecular simulation, the study demonstrates that this peptide binds to a hydrophobic cavity on the receptor, offering a potential mechanism for targeted imaging and precision cancer therapies.
